Brief description of the LCD character module

The LCD character module is a simple display device in terms of characteristics, and is known for its low power consumption and long-term reliability. They are designed to display alphanumeric characters in a preset mode and do not have the flexibility that one thinks LCDs are required for a computer or television display. In most cases, the module is a small display that displays only 8 or 16 or 32 characters for status reporting and low-level communication.

In many LCD modules, there is no backlight, which means the module is operating in reflection mode. This means that ambient light is required to view the displayed characters by using the reflective elements behind the liquid crystal components. On the other hand, the module operates as a backlit LCD, and a polarized photoresist crystal structure is realized by applying a voltage.

LCD modules are commonly found in calculators and other electronic devices, and the proper operation of these devices requires some visual communication. Other examples are printers, microwaves, pagers, and electronic watches. Because of its low cost, high efficiency, and ease of operation, this form of display is also very popular among electronics enthusiasts.

The LCD panel technologies include TN, STN, FSTN, FFSTN types and also with polarizer positive mode and negative mode options. There are different LED backlights are available in various colors including yellow/green, white, red, blue, green, amber, and RGB LEDs as well as no backlight option.

To meet the demands of customer applications, these character LCD displays are available with viewing angles of 6:00, 12:00, 3:00, and 9:00 o'clock. Bibuke offers various IC options of character fonts including English/Japanese, western European, eastern European, Scandinavian European, Cyrillic (Russian), and Hebrew/Arabic.
